This past weekend marked International Women’s Day, and at the same time Division I women’s basketball conference tournaments were being played across the country. The visibility around the games was hard to miss.
Packed arenas. National broadcasts. Major corporate sponsors.
All signs of something that has been building for years — growing investment in women’s athletics.
For those who have followed the women’s game for a long time, it was a powerful movement. The talent and competitiveness on the court were never the question. What often lagged behind was the level of attention, resources, and investment surrounding the game.
That is clearly changing.
We’re seeing a similar shift in the business world. Strong organizations understand that leadership pipelines are built by intentionally investing in talent and development and more women are stepping into those leadership roles.
Sports has always offered a simple lesson: when organizations identify talent, develop it, and create the opportunity to lead, performance follows.
The growth of women’s athletics is a reminder of what happens when investment finally meets talent.
When they meet, performance accelerates.
