It’s Halftime — What’s Your Game Plan for the Second Half?

As we head into the holiday weekend, this is more than just a break — it’s the natural pause between halves of the year. The scoreboard for H1 is already set. What matters now is what you do next. Between the fireworks and family vacations, are you setting yourself up for a successful second half of the year?

When I was coaching, halftime in the locker room wasn’t about catching our breath or goofing off. It was about facing reality, owning it, and making the necessary adjustments. Halftime was where the game was often won — not because of the score, but because of how we responded. The best teams and the best leaders use halftime as an opportunity to reflect, refocus, reset, and step into the second half with clarity and purpose.

The same is true in business. The holiday weekend isn’t all about barbecues and boating. It’s a chance to evaluate, learn, assess, reassess, modify, adjust, and step into H2 with a winning game plan. Leaders who wait for momentum to find them, or who fail to optimize this halftime opportunity, usually don’t like where they end up. The leaders who take full advantage of this transition — decide how they will lead, what adjustments they will make, new strategies they will execute, and how they will raise the bar — they are the ones who rise above in the second half.

H2 starts now. The question isn’t: what the first half looked like. The question is: what have you learned and how will you lead from here?

At ON Point, we believe the second half is where real leaders emerge and where the best separate themselves from the rest. Make your H2 matter and end the year with a win.
