There Is No Off Season—But There Is Intention

The long weekend is here—but for high performers, the mindset never really clocks out.

This time of year marks more than the unofficial start of summer. It’s a checkpoint—a moment to pause, reflect, and reset. Because the truth is, leadership doesn’t come with an off season. But the best leaders know how to create space with purpose.

As an elite coach, there were very few days off.Holidays blurred into prepping for game days.Weekends were packed with practices, travel, and recruiting trips.

There wasn’t much pause—but I learned early on:

You don’t need a lot of time off. You need to be intentional with the time you do have.

Whether it was a quiet morning routine, a reset during the off season, or protecting a single day away—those were the moments that fueled my clarity, composure, and competitiveness.

High-performance leadership isn’t about going full throttle year-round.It’s about knowing when to recover, reset, and recommit—with purpose.

At ON Point we work with executive teams who are learning to lead the same way. They’re driven, yes—but also learning how to sustain and get to the next level. We help leaders and teams ground in trust, get clear with their vision… so they are built to last.

Leadership doesn’t take an off season, but the best leaders do take time—intentionally—so they can show up ready and prepared to win.

This is what separates good from excellence.Let’s make sure your team is built for what’s next.

Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
